Riding through the Channel Tunnel on a Motorcycle

Home » Travelling by Motorcycle through the Channel Tunnel

Motorcyclists can take advantage of specially tailored Shuttle services designed to transport motorcycles safely and efficiently. At just half the car fare, you'll find yourself on the other side of the Channel in 35 minutes.

Traveling to France by motorcycle is entirely feasible and offers an ideal opportunity to explore, be it for a day trip or a longer adventure. Simply ride your bike onto the Channel Tunnel's car train and within 35 minutes, you're in France. Although tickets can be purchased directly at the Eurotunnel check-in, it's recommended to book in advance. This not only guarantees your spot on the train but also ensures you don't end up paying more; tickets tend to be pricier at the check-in!

Journey Process for Motorcyclists through the Chunnel

1. Check-in and Customs

Aim to arrive an hour before departure and proceed to check-in. Following this, you'll go through customs where your details will be verified. Ensure you have a valid passport and that the Advance Passenger Information (API) is completed.

2. Boarding the Train with Your Motorcycle

After clearing customs, follow the signs to the train. A Eurotunnel staff member will guide you to the correct carriage. Drive into the carriage and continue to the end, where another staff member will direct you further.

3. During the Journey

Once on the train, wait for departure. This might take a while, depending on how quickly the train fills up. The journey itself lasts about 35 minutes, and you can stay with your motorcycle. There's also a toilet on board for your convenience.

4. Arriving in Calais

Upon arrival in Calais, you'll enter the A16 motorway, from where you can continue your journey. For instance, Paris is about three and a half hours away.

The French coast is also worth exploring. Consider driving along the coast towards Caen; along the way, you'll encounter numerous picturesque villages where you can grab a baguette or croissant!
